As described in our introduction, sometimes we
will need to link processes together. This can be managed very
easily in Metastorm BPM, by simply adding a special stage called a
linked process stage. In the properties of this stage we can select
any other process within your project. One instance of each of
these processes is initiated once the folder arrives at that
stage.
From this stage we have what are called
rendezvous actions. In the rendezvous action we can define which
linked processes we are will wait for, and whether we will wait for
all or just one of them.
Since we are able to have as many rendezvous
actions leaving a linked process stage as we wish, this allows us
full control over the subsequent processing of that folder. Each of
the linked folders can continue through their own process until
they reach the end, an archive stage. At this point they trigger
the parent folder and the system decides, based on the rendezvous
actions, what happens next.
