Build a new system
At this point, it would seem appropriate to perform some real development. That is, we find, the only real way to test the limits of a development environment. What we have found disturbing is that whilst Metastorm BPM 9 works in as much as it does not fail often, when we do use it to build real systems, there are very important issues that have not been addressed. It certainly seems that the product has not been tested on real systems, as we would have expected in a complete Beta Test cycle.
What is required is a system that is not too large in scope, and preferably on that will benefit from the new platform. It also needs to be one that it is possible to develop before the planned move to a version 7 and version 9.1 side-by-side installation, which is the next step.
At the end of this step, we should have a good understanding of the configuration requirements and the development platform itself, and a fair idea of the problems we shall be facing when migrating version 7 systems.
