Now we make each of these topics a task, and decide how long it will take for each
task, along with the start date:
For the higher level topics we set the task data to be 'rolled up' into that topic. This
gives us a view of the total time required, and the time for each group and sub-
group:
We can then decide on dependencies (which tasks must be completed before others
start, for example):

What this does is take the topics allocated task information and add them to a
project plan. It includes that ability to set milestones, adjust dates using the Gantt
chart, and manage resources. Pretty much it is all we ever use in MS Project,
without all the fiddly bits that keep getting in our way! Add this to the fact that it
works directly off the Min Manager map, and we are streets ahead of where we
would be.
As we update the tasks to show the work completed, the rolled up figures change
accordingly. This allows simple and clear reporting of progress:
